Misunderstood
Fading
In the fall of 2018 I was homeless. I had facilitated an uneventful break-up with higher education and burnt just the right amount of bridges. I had nowhere to go and nothing to be. But, I was returning to what I felt I knew best, music, and I had just begun to teach myself guitar. A family of musicians, farmers, and teachers, lent me a hand. For months I became a part of their family, ate at their table, shared their stories, and lived their pitfalls and triumphs. On a sunny Sunday afternoon in late November, I sat by the wood stove, with my guitar in my hands and a cat on my toes, and I wrote these 3 songs. Originally called Dirt Roads, this project was recorded in Boston with my dear friend and violinist Nicolas Ortega Fortun. A year later I remixed the songs, asked my partner Raven Autumn for album art, and shared them once again as FADING. I like these songs for their simplicity. They represent where I began as a song writer. I now very much look forward to sharing with you where I’ve gone since. Please listen with an open mind and love yourself with an open heart. Cheers.
