In April of 2021 singer/songwriter Lucas Neil and his artist partner Raven Autumn drove from Providence, Rhode Island to Boulder, Colorado to record a series of singles with Lucas' friends from Tombtone Studios. All of the songs were recorded straight onto eight track tape. Raven thought it'd be a good idea to film the entire trip. Several songs were cut that week and the EP titled 'Sessions from Tombtone' was released the next year with 'Spaceman' and 'Ravens Song'. The theme of unapologetic risk taking in the name of your dreams and young love became their story and the story of Lucas Neil's first official music video for 'Ravens Song'.
Deep River, Connecticut is the stomping ground of many of Lucas Neil’s most devoted and enthusiastic supporters. High Nine Brewing is the clubhouse of the local music scene. Neil decided to curate an evening of folk music right on their very door step which began with a performance by Olivia Charlotte and ended with a filming of Neil’s set by Ronel of Cool Rhino Rock Studios.
In January of 2023, Lucas Neil filmed several songs during his intimate performance at the Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts Center in Middletown, Connecticut. This song is called Gray Hairs and it is on Neil’s studio record ‘Lovers and Loners’, which at the time was unreleased. He was joined on this song by friend and songwriting colleague Olivia Charlotte.
Right Before I Go was a song Neil wrote for his self recorded demo collection entitled ‘inward bound’. It heavily features the character and energy of Neil’s late grandmother Joyce who lived a life of perseverance through poverty, as well as enthusiasm and humor. The song has since evolved and grown to countless forms, and is set to be re-recorded and re-released in 2024. Before all that, however, Neil captured the original version of the song in this live music video done by Cool Rhino Rock Studios.
